Hi Jonathon UK, thanks for responding, unfortunately the 2 links suggested did not progress any solution. The information in the 1st link was what I had seen before, viz my iPhone is required to have iOS8 and I've already updated to iOS9.3.4 and I don't possess a Windows PC, to update the iXpand firmware. When you think about it why should a manufacturer rely on a previous OS version and a none Mac computer, when the 'world has moved on'?

I have the required app on my iPhone but the flash drive remains mute. All Youtube explanations show that as soon as you plug in the iXpander the user is prompted with the dialogue box to down load the App from iTunes. Equally clear from SanDisk when they state that: "

Update: 5/16/16 (ie May 16 this year all is resolved)

Apple has officially released iOS 9.3.2. To resolve this issue please use the standard iOS update process and update your iOS device to iOS 9.3.2 Prior to this change by Apple, their iXpander Flash Drive would not operate on the later OS for the iPhone 6, again a very clear statement from SanDisk.

Having said it is now resolved, It does not say or explain how? If one looks at some reviews there are others with the same problem. Quote: 'it does not work'

Regards.

PS: the 2nd link did provide the update V3 for the secure vault application and it was successfully down loaded to the iXpand unit from my Mac Book Pro laptop. At least this confirmed that there is not a fault with the flash drive but this feature has nothing to do with the firmware.

Hi Jonathan UK,

SanDisk have replaced the faulty iXpander 32GB Flash drive. They confirmed that it was faulty. Sending it back to them was a hassle and under Aussie law the company has to refund my costs in returning the faulty device. That too is a hassle, they sent me an 'American Express Gift cheque' but it costs more to bank it than the value of the cheque!

The new iXpander does function as it should, could be sensed by my iPhone 6 and the firmware was updated; unfortunately their Mac application execute file to install their security feature does not function. It was this feature that was OK and very simple to install on the other iXpander. So still a problem but different.

Communication with SanDisk continues, at least I can back up my iPhone photos when I next go overseas.

4 Weeks and counting to sort out what should have been a simple device to function on my 'phone.

Taking the device back to the retailer would have been far more simple and resolved much sooner; this option was never offered by SanDisk.

Thanks for taking an interest.

Regards,

Ric@V
