Q: Seagate TB drive

I have an external Seagate 1TB drive and it was working fine.

Now it is not showing up all of a sudden on the Macbook Pro when I use the USB, and I have tried both sides for USB.

All my backup is on it!!

Regards,
Chandana

Have you checked that the both USBs work with other items, i.e. USB sticks.

Is the Seagate drive getting power?

Have you tried restarting your MBP?

Does the device show up in Disk Utility?

Have you checked Finder preferences to see if external devices has been ticked?

    - Have you tried another cable?

    - Have you tried on another computer?

    - Is the drive self-powered, that only powered by the USB bus? If so it could be that the USB port does not provided enough power. You can try a powered USB hub. You can also get a USB pigtail that takes power from to USB ports to the single USB port on the drive like this one.

    - Does it show in Disk Utility?
    - Does it show in System Profiler under USB? You should see the chipset in the enclosure as well as the HD itself

Sometimes the electronics in the enclosure will fail and some the disk will fail. If the former you can place the disk in another enclosure. In the later you can use another disk in the enclosure
