Aug 15, 2016 5:26 AM in response to biggasteveby JimmyCMPIT,different procedures seem to work or not depending on who gets this error.
for me changing the clock through the terminal was the fix.
However unless you have a copy of 10.9 through the Apple Store or an archive from the Apple Store there may not be a solution. On the off chance If your source copy came from somewhere other than Apple is likely not anything we would be able to help with.
to force change the date and time open the Terminal (Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
and type, for example:
date 0815160824
and press return on the keyboard to change the time/date to
August 15, 2016 8:25 AM
then run in the installer.

Aug 15, 2016 10:59 AM in response to biggasteveby QuickTimeKirk,Then your Apple ID wasn't used to download Mavericks and you can't get a copy because Apple has removed it from the App Store.
Best you can do is to restore to factory settings and then upgrade with your own ID.

Aug 15, 2016 4:45 PM in response to biggasteveby BobHarris,Depends on how old the Mac is. If it came with Lion 10.7 or Mountaion Lion 10.8, then you can go back to those versions over the net. If it came with Snow Leopard 10.6 or earlier, then getting back to factory settings can only be done with the original installation DVDs (which may be available from Apple for a shipping and handling charge).
