Q: iPad Resale
Hello,
I have an iPad Air 1st generation with 128GB of storage that I am trying to resell because I never use it. It has an active data plan with Verizon that I cannot cancel without incurring a massive fee, but seeing as I don't use it anyway I want to find a way to sell it in the meantime. I apologize for asking this on here but sifting through 20+ websites with situations that are similar, but not close enough to provide a definitive answer, I fell back on this method.
My idea is that by restoring it and removing the sim card, I will disassociate the iPad from my plan such that any buyer would be able to put a new sim card in and start a plan of their own with Verizon or their choice of provider. Is this the case?
Thank you for your time.

Phones can be carrier locked (see How to unlock your iPhone for use with another carrier - Apple Support) and I would instinctively think it is similar with iPads with cellular, but then again the article doesn't mention iPads... I would ask Verizon if it's carrier locked.
