Q: Printing single email from a string

I have read numerous posts and articles about this issue, but have seen no really simple solution. The problem arises of course because of our tendency to use the 'Include previous email" or similar when generating a reply so that the earlier email(s) get copied into the new email before sending. (Deploying multiple related emails is a red herring.) Now Apple Mail highlights the earlier emails by putting a line (or plural lines for yet earlier emails) at the left margin, so Mail can recognise the earlier emails as such, indicating that they are recognised by mail. In theory therefore there ought to be a way of selecting just the non-highlighted email(s) for printing. How difficult could it be for Apple to do this?

I've never really tried to solve this question as I rarely would have occasion to print just one email out of a string. But when I have, I simply copy the desired text and paste it into a Word or Pages document and print that.
