I have a 15 inch macbook pro and it works perfectly fine, it's just a hassle for me to carry to school because it's so big so i was wondering if apple would have any way to maybe swap it for a cheaper, smaller laptop model.

As far as I know, Apple does not provide so called "swap programs", but they do offer recycling programs, these programs will take in your old Apple device and "if it qualifies, we’ll send you a gift card." Read more about that here: http://www.apple.com/recycling/ External parties such as Amazon also provide "trade-in" programs which will offer similar functionality, however, as of now, there does not appear to be any official Apple "swap" programs available. However, if your device is new, you might be eligible for a refund/return : http://www.apple.com/shop/help/returns_refund , but judging on your profile information, you will not be eligible for that service.

If you purchased it fro Apple within that last 14 days yo can return for a full refund.
otherwise an Apple partner will give you a discount if yo turn I the old one and purchase a new one

If you have had it more than 2 weeks Apple will not exchange it. You will have to sell it and buy a different one.
