Q: IOS 9.3.3 - 9.3.4 Critical Issues
Hello,
I've owned an iPhone 6 for 1.5 years now so unfortunately I'm out of warranty. I have been up-to-date with the software updates that Apple provides however until recently I wish i wasn't.
The following list is the critical issues that my phone has faced simultaneously after updating to 9.3.3 which I have done over my phone not iTunes.
-Battery Drain: Airplane mode ON, Battery Saver ON. Sleeping for 5 hours then phone is dead!
-Touch ID: Was working perfectly until update. The fingerprints are no longer there and the option is now grayed out. When toggling the App Store, iPhone Unlock Buttons screens quickly moves to 'Failed'
-Reachability: I have check my reach ability option in the accessibility to be on and still the double tap doesn't work.
-Heating: my phone has been hot while in standby and even airplane mode.
The following are the steps I have taken, in regards to reading so many discussion and forums from other forums:
-Restore from back-up on iTunes: I did a restore to 9.3.3 while i still had 9.3.3 back then.
-Checked my Time & Date: Daylight saving time was not adjusted so I had to adjust it manually.
-Updating to latest firmware: Updated my iTunes and iOS to latest, 9.3.4 and 12.4.3.1
Restored my iPhone to factory setting : Phone was wiped completely clean from iTunes and reinstalled iOS, and even with nothing on it the issues persisted.
-Bring it in to 'Genius Bar':
Unfortunately we do not have an Apple Store in our country; Egypt. However, I took it to the best Apple Official Retailer I had thought of 'Tradeline' in Egypt. The following is what they said...
Firstly you're battery drain is due to incorrect time, set it to 'Automatic' then select 'Rome' manually.
Your Touch ID and Reachability appear to be a component issue and not a software issue. After updating
the iOS the firmware discovered a corrupt component or maybe incompatible.
So Then I said,
I will try your fix for the battery drain even though i've tried something similar, as for the touch id and reachability if the problem is with the touch id component then i would not mind replacing it.
He then then said,
No, the touch ID is not a component issue, however, it is a mother board issue which we here cannot fix. The
only solution we can offer to you is replace your iPhone with a completely new one on your charge.
I will not utter my thoughts on the matter of such a disappointing issue to rise from, what I thought to be, such a reliable product.
I am currently using the 9.3.4 iOS and I'd be happy to share any information you may need to assist me.
Thank you.
