My new iMac's harddrive is action weird?

I have some problems with understanding what is exactly taking up space on my mac. As you see in the screenphoto that I have attached is programs taking up 139,09 GB of space. However I have 948,46 GB free og 1,02 TB, which is only 71 GB? So can anyone please explain this to me?
