Q: Reply to an email thread by forwarding an email sent on another.

This has been bugging me for all email formats, just curious if I am not the only one or maybe there's a way and I don't know.

Example, my boss asks me to send an email to some people or reply to something on his behalf. Now that I have, he emails me days later asking if I sent it out or what came of it? (He requests to not get too many emails and for me to filter what I cc, bcc to him) Is there a way to forward him that other message from that email thread to this new email thread? Trying to keep all email threads clean and not full of confusing forwards and replies.

Currently, I will either just forward the email, or, even cleaner if I'm at my macbook: >file/print/save as pdf and forward him the pdf of the entire thread.

Or maybe I should be asking is there a way to merge threads?
