Q: How to change Apple School Manager Admin SMS text number?

I upgraded to newest version of Apple School Manager and the admin account has an old cell number for it's 2 factor login process. How do I change this? I ask because Apple School Manager doesn't give this as an option for admin users and https://appleid.apple.com/ says it can't change it because it's managed by Apple School Manager.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

I have this exact problem. In school manager itself there is no way to change anything other than the username for the administrator account.

I reported the issue to Apple support over the phone. They helped me find a temporary work around with adding a phone number through iCloud account settings on iOS. I'm hopeful there be an elegant solution whenever Apple School Manager comes out of it's preview status.

Thank you for your reply. How did you manage to use your managed apple id as an icloud account on ios? I thought that was another restriction to managed apple ids?

the ID was originally an iCloud account and I think that's why I was able to apply that fix. I'd suggest calling Apple regarding your issue.

I contacted apple support. They told me to log into icloud with my managed apple id preferrably on a managed device. There I was able to go into the password settings for the managed account and to add a new telephone number for receiving the verification codes.

Note that i had to have access to the old telephone number to be able to receive a verification code before I could change any password info and before I could add a new number.

But it worked. Maybe sometime soon apple will make changing this easier from ASM.
