Hello,
I currently have a crashed Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15" and have a friend who has a great condition, like new Mac Mini 2012 for about $300. His Mac Mini has 4GB RAM and 500GB storage. My MBP has 1TB storage and 16GB RAM.
I was told that I could swap out the Mini drive/RAM for what's in my MBP and save some money. Is this true?

1. The Late 2012 Mac Mini's use PC3-12800 1600MHz RAM.
And it looks to me, like all of the 15" 2011 MacBookPro's uses slower PC3-10800 RAM.
2. You say that, your MacBookPro has crashed.
Do you know for sure, that is not the MacBookPro's Hard Drive that has crashed...?
The service tech said the file system and hard drive tested ok. The hard drive is less than a year old Solid State Hybrid Drive. I don't mind buying RAM. I just have my whole life on that hard drive and have it backed up, but wanted to save as much money as possible in this difficult financial season we're in.

The Late 2012 Mac Mini's are pretty good machines. Both my 2012 Mini's rock, one has an SSD and the other has dual drives, a small SSD and a 7200rpm HDD.
