Downloading music from itunes to computer

Help!! I just purchased an album from iTunes which I now understand automatically downloads to icloud. First how can I turn off this setting to directly download to my computer? Then how do I get the music to my library on my computer? I followed the online recommendation of signing into iTunes store and then going to purchased. Apparently the music should show up as not on my computer in this area. The album shows up as though it should be on my computer yet it is not in my file library (PC). Since it believes it is in my library there is now no option to move it there. Any idea on how to rectify this?

Hi,

This is the extract from download previous Purchases:

On a Mac or PC

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. If you’re not signed in, sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen or at the top of the iTunes window, choose Account > Purchased. If you're a member of a Family Sharing group, you might see Family Purchases instead of Purchased.
User uploaded fileIf you’re using Windows and can’t see the menu bar, learn how to turn it on.
  4. Click "Not in My Library" to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
    User uploaded file
  5. Find the item that you want to download, then click the Download icon User uploaded file in the upper-right corner. Your song downloads to your library.

If the album is not shown, do you see it when you select All. Does it show the download icon?

Next, check your recently added playlist. Does it appear here? If so, does it have a download icon? if so, click on icon to download.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the response. The album shows up under "all" under the purchased area of my account. It was under the "not in my library" area but I clicked on the icloud icon at the top right of the album and it seems to have moved it over to the "all" section. The issue is it still does not show up in my file library on PC and when I sync my ipod classic it does not show up either. It does show up in my itunes on my computer but is suspect it is drawing the music from icloud.
