Before I import any files my timeline shows starting time 11:27:18:04. How can I reset it to zero please?

PPost a screenshot of the timeline. The default is for projects to start at zero. Not sure why this is happening for you. Start timecode be changed in project properties.
Wondering if you're working in a clip timeline. File > New > Project. What is the starting TC?

Thanks - I can now see that the Projects have a timecode start as the one showing - ie not 0
