How do I open a mso file

I have a Mac Pro (mid 2015). How do I open a mso file? I get a blank page when downloading it and a window that says,"There is no application set to open the document". What application do I use to open this document?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

What is it supposed to be?
