how to search for a document in iCloud Drive

What if you are not using a mac? I'm using internet explorer to access icloud and i do not see a search option.

The above solution is assuming you are using the iCloud tools (the iCloud Drive folder in Finder) to search iCloud Drive, not the web browser tool.

In Windows, this would be the iCloud for Windows application and using File Explorer to search the synced iCloud Drive folder.

From the web browser, there really isn't a search option. The browser tool for iCloud is not full featured in any way and was not designed to be a replacement for any other file management tool.

I understand from your post that you would like to know how to search for a file in iCloud Drive without having to look through all the files. I know how it can be to have so many files to search through. From what I can tell from your post, it looks like you are using iCloud Drive for Windows.

If this is correct, I recommend using the search box located in the upper right corner of the File Explorer window. Click on iCloud Drive and then type in your search criteria in the search box. It should bring up any documents with the same name in the iCloud Drive folder.

If you are using a Mac, you can use the Spotlight search feature to find files. Click the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner of your Mac and type in your search criteria.
