Q: Using headphones with ipad2

I would like some input about which headphones to use with my ipad2. Do I need a special size? And it better with using the jack or go with bluetooth?

iPad 2, iOS 7.1.2

Personally, as a musician and someone who appreciates quality sound, I would definitely go with headphones or earphones that plug into an iPhone or iPad.

The sound quality is truer, more accurate.

Most average priced wireless Bluetooth speakers and headphones/earphones lose quality in the low bass and higher treble regions.

Only the more expensive ($250.00 and upwards) wireless Bluetooth heaphones/earphones and more expensive Bluetooth speaker systems will have technology in them that will compensate for the bass/treble loss over a Bluetooth signal.

Lower priced Bluetooth speakers, headphones/ earphones simply do not have this technology bulit into them so they can sell at much lower price points.

If budget is concerned, Wired headphone will come at many pricing points, but even some cheaply priced wired headphones/earphone will be superior in sound quality to cheaper, wireless Bluetooth offerings currently out in the marketplace.

My vote is for wired headphones/earphones.

    Good Luck!

thank you so very much, Michel, for your point on advice about the earphones! I will definitely go with the wired ones then. it always helps to make a decision based on another persons experience.

hello again. Your advice was great. One more thing, though. Does my ipad2 require a special sized connector for the ear phones?

Your iPad uses a mini 1/8 inch (3.1 or 3.2 mm) headphone jack.

The same size headphone jack the Apple uses for their iDevice earphones.

However some over the ear headphone makers now include a 1/4 inch audio standard headphone plug adapter to use with other audio equipment that uses the 1/4 headphone jack/plug standard.

You need to read the description of these types of headphones to see of they come with both 1/8 audio mini jack and 1/4 audio jack accesory or compatibilty.

    Good Luck
