Aug 16, 2016 11:39 AM in response to MiaCPHby Diana.McCall,That's really a question for me.com. There's no standard way of checking this. This Mailbox size and message sending limits in iCloud - Apple Support seems to say it's 20 MB.

Aug 16, 2016 12:28 PM in response to MiaCPHby Michael Black,Also have the sender check their limits. If it was a limitation on their end there's nothing you can do from your side.

Aug 16, 2016 12:36 PM in response to Diana.McCallby MiaCPH,Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, I am not quite sure what you mean. Me.com was the domain given to apple users before fall 2012 when icloud.com replaced it. Am I not at the right forum? It is the limit for RECEIVING emails I need to know. Not sending.

Aug 16, 2016 12:37 PM in response to Michael Blackby MiaCPH,Thanks for replying. The sender's mail account had a limit of 30 MB. So the problem seems to be in the receiving end with me.

Aug 16, 2016 1:20 PM in response to MiaCPHby Michael Black,me.com no longer exists. If you migrated that me.com to iCloud than it is in reality nothing more than a legacy alias for your iCloud email account. So the limits for iCloud apply, with the listed size of incoming or outgoing file sizes at 20MB.

Aug 16, 2016 1:25 PM in response to MiaCPHby ShagCA,I checked me.com size limit and connected to one of them (mx5.mail.icloud.com). It's set at around 28MB (SIZE 28311552). Take a look at the bounce mail notification (NDR - non delivery receipt). It should tell you which server is rejecting it (sender or recipient server).

Aug 16, 2016 1:28 PM in response to ShagCAby MiaCPH,I was the recipient of the lost email, not the sender, & I did not get any bounce mail I can check. Thanks for telling me about the 28 MB limit. It does not explain why an email with an 11 MB attachment never reached me.

Aug 16, 2016 1:33 PM in response to MiaCPHby ShagCA,I understand you're the recipient. Ask the sender to forward the NDR to you, if you know who the sender is, of course. How do you know sender's mail server has a limit of 30MB? If the sender didn't get an NDR, check your junk mail folder.

Aug 16, 2016 1:32 PM in response to Michael Blackby MiaCPH,Thanks for your reply. Sorry to say, I don't understand. I do know no new me.com addresses are assigned after fall 2012. But my original me.com address is still in use. I did not do anything actively to migrate it to icloud.com. Will that happen automatically? Sorry, I'm no techie - that's why I ask the question here

Aug 16, 2016 1:37 PM in response to ShagCAby MiaCPH,The sender was a travel bureau and the email contained my travel documents (that I didn't receive in time). I contacted the sender, who suggested the problem might be the attachment size. The sender also told me they could attach files up to 30 MB. They do not keep their error messages (NDR). I still need to know how I can check the limit for my mail app.

You must have created an iCloud account before me.com was fully shut down. The only way any me.com email still works at all is if it was migrated to an iCloud account before the servers were shut down. All still functional me.com addresses (I have one) now are simply aliases to an iCloud account. The only functional Apple mail service now is iCloud.
see iCloud: About your @icloud.com, @me.com, and @mac.com email addresses - Apple Support

Sending/Receiving limits are set on mail servers. As far as I know client mail app doesn't impose limit.

Aug 16, 2016 1:47 PM in response to Michael Blackby MiaCPH,OK. I read the information on iCloud: About your @icloud.com, @me.com, and @mac.com email addresses - Apple Support and understand about the alias, but did not know one server was closed. Thanks for explaining.

Aug 16, 2016 1:50 PM in response to ShagCAby MiaCPH,Ah, I see. So, the limit must be the 28 MB. I just wish I knew how to check that, myself. I.e. I am grateful for the help here, but it would be even better if someone told me how/where to check it, than just telling me what it is.
