iPod

Q: have old iPod nano - how to restore default settings?

My 2009 iPod Nano needs to be reset to default. How to do that? Want to start over with it (difference computer - Win now Mac; won't take more music, etc.)

A:

After clicking the icon shown above, and then selecting the device that appears in a menu below, you should get something similar to this, with the sidebar listing the various pages where you can control what goes on the device, rather than just explore what is already on it. There should be a restore button on the summary tab. Weirdly this is not greyed out when I look at it on screen, but comes up grey in the screenshot. If you have such a button try it anyway.

I've done that. It seems to be grayed out as is all the music on the iPod. Under Devices, the iPod will open up and show me the music. Just cannot edit or add anything to it. iPod was originally synced with a PC and I'm trying with a Mac. Possibly part of my problem. So figured if I could reset to factory (deleting everything), I could then sync with my Mac and fill it up with the music (I have all the music in ITunes so good there).

TThank you so very much. Ended up getting everything to show up by changing USB ports on my Mac Book Pro. Go figure. Then able to restore (originally set up on a PC and I had all the music on my iTunes). Now loading music. All good. Again thanks so much for responding!!!
