I did a factory reset. It worked for a couple minutes (long enough to configure it).
Now it's not working again.

Aug 24, 2016 5:33 AM in response to lindros2by Scott Newman,★HelpfulThere are several other threads that deal with this same issue. If you have Back to My Mac enabled in your Airport Extreme, then disabling it will fix this problem.
Power cycle your APE again. As soon as the green light appears, use Airport Utility to delete any email addresses included in Back To My Mac. You'll have a few minutes before it disappears from Airport Utility. Then update your APE.
This will work until Apple provides a real fix.

Is it a network-layer issue (in others' testing, the issue appears when the APE 'talks' to Apple over the WAN interface, then something breaks)? Or something else?
Will we ever know...?
