Aug 16, 2016 6:46 PM in response to Psedgeby Phil0124,★HelpfulIs the Apple TV connected to a Wifi network with an active internet connection?

Aug 16, 2016 6:43 PM in response to Phil0124by Psedge,HI phil, it is connected to the resort wifi, which is super fast and all other devices stream with no issue. The set up was also without issue and at first appears to be as is at home, but Netflix for instance starts to start up then suddenly shows the not available message.

Aug 16, 2016 7:02 PM in response to turingtest2by Phil0124,Yes, Netflix is surely checking the IP location and since it does not match the account it does not offer up the content.
Many of the other Apps may be doing the same. Youtube however should work since content is only location restricted in specific cases.
As to the Apple TV not appearing on the iPhone's AirPlay menu, the network may be blocking some things AirPlay needs, or is secured so devices connected to it cannot see each other. On a wide network like that is normal to make it so you don't see other devices on the same network.

Aug 16, 2016 7:05 PM in response to Phil0124by Psedge,Phil, really appreciate that detailed account. Is there anything that can be done about the ip recognition?
-
Aug 16, 2016 7:55 PM in response to Psedgeby Diana.McCall,Regarding AirPlay, if your devices are compatible, you should be able to use peer-to-peer AirPlay. If you enable Bluetooth on your iOS device, open the AirPlay menu and wait a bit, ATV may show up, see How to use AirPlay on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support near the bottom. This uses another WiFi channel, bypassing the network.
There are ways of dealing with the IP problem, but they're not supported by Apple, so you need to search the web. Maybe not the best way to spend a holiday!

Aug 17, 2016 3:39 AM in response to Psedgeby Winston Churchill,I'm not sure if the type of wifi connection offered by the hotel/apartment you are staying in isn't restricted in some way and therefore responsible for some of your issues.
However, be aware that your license to watch movies etc doesn't allow you to stream them to countries outside of where you have your account and Apple reserve the right to enforce the in their terms and conditions. Whether or not this is a contributory factor to your problem I'm not sure, but you shouldn't be using the Apple TV in that way anyway. If you've downloaded the movies to an iPad or similar before leaving home, you should have no issues watching them on there or sending them via AirPlay (assuming there isn't a network issue stopping it) to your Apple TV.

Aug 22, 2016 3:30 PM in response to Winston Churchillby Psedge,Appreciate your helpful response WC. I hadn't read the small print that I couldn't use the device travelling, odd with it being a world brand and the probability it's ease of use people would.
Thanks again for answering.
