Billing/payment

Every time I try to purchase music with the iTunes gift card I received, it asks for payment verification. I don't have a credit card and I don't want them sending a bill to my house. Why won't it let me pay using the iTunes card?

Hi the.hannah,

I understand that you are being asked for payment information whenever trying to purchase music from iTunes despite having an iTunes gift card. I know that it's nice to be able to use this credit for music, so I'm happy to provide some resources to clarify this for you.

First, it's important to ensure that you have an iTunes Store Gift Card and not an Apple Store Gift Card:

What type of gift card do I have? - Apple Support

Then be sure that you have redeemed the gift card to your account:

Redeem iTunes and Apple Music Gift Cards and codes - Apple Support

If you have already redeemed the gift card, check that you have enough balance on your account to cover the entirety of the purchase amount:

See your iTunes credit balance - Apple Support

You can see more about iTunes Store purchases here:

Payment methods that you can use in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities, cheers!
