how can i delete an icloud account that was left on my iphone

so basically my sisters bf gave me his old iPhone 4, but left his old iCloud account logged in with find my iPhone on and i can't delete his old account because he forgot the password, I've signed into everything else with my account but keep getting pop ups asking for his account password, all i want to do is factory reset the phone and then back up one of my old iPhone back ups which has photos i want on my iPhone. please help me if you can

The only way to get the iCloud account off of the phone is for the boyfriend to reset it so that it can be used to remove the account: If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support

If the boyfriend does not remember the answers to the Security Questions, then he needs to contact Apple Support to have them reset: ACCOUNT SECURITY SUPPORT

The other option would be for the boyfriend to take the phone to an Apple Store with the original receipt proving that he was the original purchaser. Then the Apple Store folks will be able to erase it for you.
