With no details we can only guess... you don't have an up-to-date version of iPhoto? What version do you have?

You need iPhoto version 9.6.1 with Yosemite OS X 10.10.3 or later.
See Barney's User Tip, if you can update to this version. Barney-15E's user tip explains how to update to iPhoto 9.6.1 by reinstalling your purchase. See this link: Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS X 10.10.3

Sorry, can't give you iPhoto version number. While trying to load iPhoto, all I get is a black screen, a sidebar with "Printing" highlighted and the beachball. I have to force quit iPhoto. I will try to update to iPhoto version 9.6.1.
