Only potentially in iOS updates (you already know that you are only talking to fellow users on here, we won't know what Apple are working on), if your iPad is still on 8.4 as your tagline says then you could try updating to the current version, 9.3.4 (you can't downgrade if you do update).
Does anyone know a quick fix?

- done a soft-reset/reboot of the iPad
- if neither of those had an impact, also tried backing up (and copying purchases off) and restoring
