MacBook Pro Not Detecting External Display

I recently purchased a thunder bolt 3in1 adapter to connect a vga and dvi ,asus monitor. Everything was great at first it was working only using vga cord for about two and a half hours then i got off the the computer for the night and i unplug all the cords to not lose battery the next afternoon I want to use my computer so i plugged all the cords in and turned on the monitor the popped up with a message saying no signal and i check to see if my mac was detecting the external display so i tried using the dvi cord instead the screen worked put was basically un usable and sometimes said no signal but guess what the next day dvi doesn't even work it just popes up with no signal please help the monitor is a MW221 by ASUS
