Q: Apple TV 4 does not connect to remote app on ethernet

Hello all, I have an Apple TV 3 which connects to remote app when either wireless or on Ethernet. However the Apple TV 4 only connects to the remote app when it is wireless. When the Apple TV 4 is connected to Ethernet, it is visible in the remote app but comes up with an error that it is unable to connect. Any help?

I have an Apple TV connected by ethernet and both versions of the remote app function as expected. I mention this since it points to the issue being something related to your particular environment.

Try the following steps for the Apple TV 4, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > System > Restart).
    2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    3. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    4. Reset the Apple TV (Settings > System > Reset > Reset all settings)
    5. Restore the Apple TV (Settings > System > Reset > Restore)
