Select the Accounts tab and from there you should be able to change the details you need to update. If that fails entirely delete the email account you wish to update then create the new one as needed.

Aug 17, 2016 5:05 PM in response to Booberoiby tim_135,Hey there Booberoi!
Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities for assistance with changing that email account around. If I understand correctly, you want to either keep the same account and just change the email address, or have a completely new email address and account. Both can be resolved in the same steps! You're in the right place to change that account around a bit. First, you'll want to ensure those emails are saved on the Gmail website because we will be removing that account. Once you've confirmed the old messages are saved, you will head back into "Internet Accounts" in System Preferences and highlight that Gmail account. Once highlighted, click the minus (-) sign towards the lower left corner of that window to remove the account.
If you want to keep the same account but use a different email address, you may be able to do so on the Gmail website. Likewise, if you wish to create a completely new account and email address the Gmail site will be your one stop shop. Once you're ready to add the newly created or edited account back to your Mac, simply follow these instructions:
Have a phenomenal day!
