Open Directory Recovery

I have 2 servers both running 10.8.5 and Server.app version 2.2.2. One is running the master for Open directory, the other (on a different subnet) is running the replica.

Recently, the master has been acting up. I can't authenticate to it. So, I tried promoting the replica to master, which made both break. I rolled them back so both are working.

After much trouble shooting, I decided to set up another mac mini with 10.8.5 and Server 2.2.2. That's done and I am now looking to restore the OD there but am hitting new problems. When i try to do it via the GUI, it runs for about 5 seconds, then stops. Logs suggest the problem is "VERY LOW SPACE", but there is plenty of space on the machine.

I then tried to set up a new OD, which worked, and restore the data using command line. I did "sudo slapconfig -recoverdb /ODArchive/ODArchive.sparseimage". This told me I couldn't restore a Leopard backup.

Any insight/suggestions would be welcome.
