Ipod touch 6 generation 128GB model

Apple claims 40 hours music playtime and 8 hours video time for this. Has anyone actually got anywhere near these amounts of playtime? I have switched off wi-fi, bluetooth and all battery-guzzling background apps. I also play music as background i.e. out of main system. Am I missing something or are the claimed figures just a bizarre fantasy achievable, if at all, with such stringent qualifications that make it impractical for anyone to follow?

Ggenerally, Apple claims are conservative and most users match or exceed the stated performance. This is based on new devices and in the case of music playback, the use of included headphones, not built in speakers.

Thanks. But from my original post it will be clear that my experience falls far below this with a brand new ipod, so clearly I must be missing something. BTW I have read several online reviews by people far more expert than I in such matters indicating that far from being conservative reality falls far short of Apple's claims.
