Got a 27” monitor from Apple, with thunderbolt (error). My MacPro does not support thunderbolt. Apple will not take back the monitor. Will using a USB 3 card, and then using a hard drive having both USB 3 and thunderbolt work?

No. You need a computer logic board that has Thunderbolt built in.

yes, thanks. Selling it is a little complicated, because i work at a University, the procedure is rather torturous! Thanks very much.

But really, not to bash Apple, they make excellent products, I do not fault them at all for that, but the lack of backward compatibility and the frequent changes to connectors, ports, adapters etc. is becoming too frequent lately.
