Q: Got a 27” monitor from Apple, with thunderbolt (error). My MacPro does not support thunderbolt. Apple will not take back the monitor. Will using a USB 3 card, and then using a hard drive having both USB 3 and thunderbolt work?

No. You need a computer logic board that has Thunderbolt built in.
