Q: Erased Imac Hard drive for resale and won't switch on

Hello,

I recently followed the instructions on Apple Support on how to prepare your Mac for a resell -- to erase the hard drive. I followed instructions and used secure erase. When it was over, when switching the Imac back on, it was just beeping and it won't respond to my keyboard. The screen was blank.

I would be grateful for any kind of assistance. Thank you kindly!

Hi barmbs,

After doing everything right for the next owner, it appears that your iMac on Yosemite won't finish starting up and not responding to your keyboard as well. I'll be glad to help.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up -- Even though your keyboard isn't responding at the moment, it may respond when you start it up again.

If your Mac won‘t turn on -- Follow the steps in this article to see if you can get it working again.
