Q: should i use windows or apple system on macbook air

I have cpl of question because Im new to apple the internet & computers so I might not use the right terminology pls help!!  1.  I don't know what system i should b using on my mac book air? windows? or apple program I think is(OSX MAVERICK)?

2.  I was trying to download a movie & instead of the movie i got a voice over saying my computer got a virus & all my personal info is being stolen? Should i listen to what it says to do? It says my computer has been infected with virus & if I don't do what it says apple will disable my computer!  3  Is that possible? what should i do?

    No. Do not listen to any pop ups that you get from the internet telling you your computer has a virus or could be at risk. Do not call any of the numbers or pay anyone anything.

     

    Instead, do this: Stop pop-up ads in Safari - Apple Support

     

    If you are using a Mac then your operating system is OS X. If your Mac software is updated to the latest version it should be OS X El Capitan.

    Most people would use OS X (current version is El Capitan OS X 10.11.6) unless they have a specific need to run a program that will only run in Windows. Macs don't come with Windows installed so if you don't already have it there will be additional steps and expense involved.

     

    Regarding the 2nd item, you may want to provide more details of whether you were using OS X or Windows and where you were downloading from.

    Are you in Windows when downloading this movie? Did it come from an infected torrent web site?

     

    In most cases, OS X versions are not impacted by such virus threats.
