Q: transfer of I-Books to Sony E-Reader

I have a Sony E-Reader. Can I transfer books from My I-Book Library to my Sony device and similarly from my I-Books library to my Sony Device?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

If the books are in the iBooks format, only iBooks can use them. If your books are in generic e-pub format, you can use them in all readers.

Note that even in epub format, any book with DRM, which means most all books you have paid for in the iBookstore, can only be read by the iBooks app on an Apple device.
