transfer of I-Books to Sony E-Reader

I have a Sony E-Reader. Can I transfer books from My I-Book Library to my Sony device and similarly from my I-Books library to my Sony Device?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

If the books are in the iBooks format, only iBooks can use them. If your books are in generic e-pub format, you can use them in all readers.
