Q: Booted from Mavericks backup. Now cannot mount Time Capsule.
Cloned iMac Mavericks disk to external disk before doing clean install of El Capitan. 27 inch Mid 2010 iMac with factory 250 GB SSD.
El Capitan worked at first and automatically did a Time Machine backup of the new OS to my Time Capsule which REPLACED the backup of Mavericks on the Time Capsule. So I couldn't use Migration Assistant to restore files. Good thing I had made a clone of the Mavericks disk in addition to counting on the Time Capsule!
Severe problems with El Capitan so booted Mavericks from the cloned external drive. Now the Mavericks machine cannot mount Time Capsule at all. Time Machine cannot find the Time Capsule. Doesn't show up in Finder, can't mount it with the Go Connect to server... command, it times out. Air Port utility cannot find the Time Capsule. But I can ping the Time Capsule from the Mavericks iMac and both of my other Macs on the network can still access the Time Capsule and do their hourly backups just fine. Tried rebooting the Time Capsule. Any suggestions?
