How do I get the footer of numbers to say "Page 1 of 21" rather than "1"?

Thanks for that. I'm not doing something right though, as it's not working. I typed the exact following into the footer bar:

'Page '; Insert > Page Number; type ' of '; Insert > Page Count

When I type "1 of 4" into the first page, it inserts "1 of 4" into every page.

In pages, when I click in the footer, it gives me the option to select "1 of 4", then puts "2 of 4" on the second page and so on.

I just found, If I leave the 1, then type "of 4" after it, it then says "2 of 4" on the second page and so on.

Still, it's annoying that in every document I have to manually check how many pages there are, then type "of 21" or whatever into the first page.

Surely there's a way to automate it?

The problem isn't getting page numbers showing - that's easy.

The problem is, the standard page numbering is "1" on page one, "2" on page two etc.

I want it to say "Page 1 of x" (where x is number of pages in document) on page 1, "Page 2 of x" on page 2 etc.

The critical step I can't grasp - how to change "1" to "Page 1 of x" automatically?

After you get the page header or footer to automatically show "Page x of y" Save as Template.

This here is the problem - how to get it showing "x of y" instead of "x"?
