Q: Outgoing Mail Fails

Had to change password for e-mail service and now cannot send e-mail.  Running OS X El Capitan 1-.11.6.  When try to send e-mail it fails and get message that it cannot connect to service outgoing mail server and asks for password.  When I enter password it "fails to authenticate".  Have checked numerous times to make sure address of outgoing server and address are correct.  I am able to receive e-mail.  Any help fixing appreciated.
