Aug 18, 2016 1:43 PM in response to Heilanladby Allan Eckert,★HelpfulAn equally important item to create prior to the upgrade is a backup of everything.
Since your Mac is currently running Mountain Lion, you can purchase El Capitan using the App Store on your Mac.

Aug 18, 2016 1:49 PM in response to Allan Eckertby Heilanlad,Thank you Allan, I will purchase a backup drive and do that. I'm thinking of a 500GB Verbatim store'n'go. Hope that will do the trick.

Aug 19, 2016 8:51 AM in response to Heilanladby Allan Eckert,★HelpfulIf you are going to use Time Machine as the software to do your backup, the suggestion is to have at least three times as much disk space available for Time Machine as you currently have available on your Mac now.
So if your Mac has 167 GB or less for disk space that will be OK. If it has more then that you should consider get a larger disk then that.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.
Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Aug 19, 2016 9:01 AM in response to Allan Eckertby Heilanlad,Thanks again Allan, I very much appreciate you taking the time to help me. I do not use my machine for anything other than e-mail and safari. My other use is to hold my photography collection and shop projects, my reason for u/grading is to stay on top of the technology as much as I can so that It and I don't become OOD together. Enjoy your day.
