Why do the order of my mailboxes keep changing in my email

OKay, I know this may seem trivual to some of you but it's become an annoyance and well I thought I'd seek out answer.


in the email app on my iPad I have attached my four email accounts and I like them in a certain order because each account I use for different things. When I say order I mean how they appear in the mailboxes screen. Well over the last few months at least once a week they just just move around the order of the mailboxes changes with no prompting from me so I have to go back into the edit screen and reorder them the way I want them to appear. Now it should be noted that I am getting all my email from all my accounts so that is not the issue.


does anyone else have this issue and if so how do I fix it to permantly keep the mailboxes in the order I need them to be in?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having your mailboxes not save the order you set in the Mail app on your iPad is not what you expect. Based on what you stated, it seems you may be experiencing an issue with the iPad software and the Mail app. Here is what I suggest to resolve your issue:

1. First, make sure you have a backup of your personal data, as you may have to erase your iPad to resolve your issue.

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

2. Next, make sure your iPad software is up to date, as there are important fixes for issues like yours.

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

3. If you're still having this issue or your iOS software is already up to date, your next step is Reset All Settings on your iPad. Now, don’t worry, this will not affect any of your content. All of your contacts, pictures, music, and other stuff is all safe. What it will do is reset your custom settings back to the factory defaults. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap the Reset All Settings option. Then test your issue once that process is done.

4. Last troubleshooting step if you're still having an issue with the Mail app will be to restore the iPad software in iTunes and restore your backup using the steps in these articles:
