Q: since upgrading to el capitaniget the message device disconnected or unavailable when I try to use my usb modem all worked ok with previous OS versions

Huawei usb modem worked ok until upgraded Mac Air to El Capitan then get "device disconnected or unavailable" message.  Tryed reseting NVRAM etc but no joy.

    Many of those types of devices fail at just about every update/upgrade. The people who write the software to make them work don't seem to be able to make a driver that doesn't break.

    El Capitan hardened the OS against malicious software by blocking access to certain areas. If the software for your modem wrote to those places, they will not work.

    You need to contact Huawei to see if they have a driver that will work in El Capitan.
