iMessage won't activate on phone number

When I try to activate iMessage on my iPhone 6S, it activates successfully on my email id, but it won't activate on my phone number. Everything else on my phone is working fine.

From the Message.log:

[032507.604772]

[IMDaemonCore(imagent:66:YES):IMDServiceSession] initWithAccount: XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX service:iMessage defaults:

{

AccountType = 0;

Aliases = (

{

Alias = "+1925XXXXXXX";

Status = 3;

}

);

HasEverRegistered = 1;

LoginAs = "P:+1925XXXXXXX";

PushTopic = "com.apple.madrid";

Registration = {

ErrorCode = 20;

InternalErrorCode = 31;

Status = "-1";

};

ServerHost = "init.ess.apple.com";

ServiceName = "com.apple.madrid";

UniqueID = "XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX";

UserDisabled = 0;

Version = 1;

VettedAliases = (

"+1925XXXXXXX"

);

}

How can I get this registration error fixed for my phone number on Apple's servers?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.4, null

Have you done all this on your iPhone?

Is there some extenuating circumstance you have not told us regarding your iPhone telephone number? Examples:

  • Your iPhone is previously owned.
  • Your telephone number recently changed.
  • Your cellular carrier recently changed.
  • Your telephone number was previously (recently) used on a different (non-Apple?) mobile phone.

iMessage is on. I have signed in with my Apple ID. There is no check mark next to my phone number. There is a check mark next to my Apple ID. Facetime: same status.

  • Your iPhone is previously owned. NO
  • Your telephone number recently changed. NO
  • Your cellular carrier recently changed. NO
  • Your telephone number was previously (recently) used on a different (non-Apple?) mobile phone. NO

iMessage was working fine on my phone number for the whole time I've had the iPhone 6S, until i changed my Apple ID password at the beginning of August. Then two days later this problem came up.

Ah, OK, changing your Apple ID password is the issue.

You must make sure you have shut down every service that relies on your Apple ID and re-logged in using your new password. This article has the guide you should follow:

When in doubt, shut the service down and restart it using the new password.

Someone should be able to look up the registration error codes in the code to determine what's going on with my phone number registration in Apple's servers:

[IMDaemonCore(imagent:66:YES):IMDServiceSession] initWithAccount: XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX service:iMessage defaults:

{

AccountType = 0;

Aliases = (

{

Alias = "+1925XXXXXXX";

Status = 3;

}

);

HasEverRegistered = 1;

LoginAs = "P:+1925XXXXXXX";

PushTopic = "com.apple.madrid";

Registration = {

ErrorCode = 20;

InternalErrorCode = 31;

Status = "-1";

};

ServerHost = "init.ess.apple.com";

ServiceName = "com.apple.madrid";

UniqueID = "XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX";

UserDisabled = 0;

Version = 1;

VettedAliases = (

"+1925XXXXXXX"

);

}

SO glad I was not the only one experiencing this, I've had this for 3 weeks now. Exact same as you John, my iMessages stopped sending from my phone number from the moment my Apple ID password was changed, no one would believe me!

Ive had multiple contacts with Apple Support and in contact with their senior advisors, taken all advice and all possible troubleshooting steps you could think of including the following:

  • Turning iMessage on/off
  • Signing in and out of Apple ID and shut down everything using the Apple ID
  • Checked Account/Billing details
  • Different sim as well as my sim in a different phone
  • TIme/Date is correct
  • Reset Network/Location
  • Factory restore
  • Own contact number is correct in Contacts
  • Now using a completely brand new iPhone

STILL THE SAME ISSUE. My mobile is not showing at all under iMessage, only my email and I get the "Waiting for activation" and "error occurred" messages. It used to show both mobile and email and gave the option of "start new conversations from" , however this doesn't show anymore.

someone please help
