Q: ipad totally dead

I plugged my iPad in this afternoon to charge because the battery had drained completely. Just picked it up thinking it would be fully charged. It is completely dead! I tried holding down the power and home buttons to see if that would restart it and NADA. So what now? I guess go into the Apple store?
