Macbook and Apple TV issue

Hey all,

I am trying to hook up my Apple tv to my mac book, Before you say anything keep reading. Once upon a time I was able to do it and for some reason it stopped working. I have reset my apple tv, made sure my log ins were the same for my apple ID, its on the same network. There is no issue with the apple tv. I can prove it by mirroring my iPad up to it with no issue.

My issue is, it shows on my desktop at the top showing that my apple tv is available to mirror however it keeps saying, unable to connect. What else would you suggest I do? I haven't reset my mac book to OEM yet and really hope I don't have to. Thanks for any help you throw my way.

I am having the same trouble with my Macbook Pro (mid-2015) and Apple TV (gen 4). It worked as recently as two weeks ago. Then I get the same message that dunfine gets that the mac can't connect. When I connect with an HDMI cable and go to another input source on the TV all is well but I like how it used to be a wireless and simple connection. What changed?
