Q: Reconnect to TM backup

In a moment of madness I have just disconnected from my Time Machine backup. [I clicked Remove Disk > Stop Using this Disk]. I reselected the same disk, entered the password, and hey presto I can no longer see my backups. I have not changed machines, time capsule or reformatted anything. I just need to re-establish the link to the backups I have and not start a new one.

Running Yosemite 10.10.5 on a MacBook Pro circa 2012, backing up wirelessly to an Airport Time Capsule version 7.7.7.

Can anyone help?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Click the Time Machine "clock" icon at the top of the screen

    Click Back Up Now

It might appear initially as if Time Machine will make a new backup, but after a few minutes it will recognize the old backup file and perform an incremental back that should only take a few minutes.

After that backup completes, you will be able to see your Time Machine backups normally.

Thank you Bob. This did cross my mind but I was apprehensive. I did not want to risk overwriting anything. But it worked a treat.
