Q: Has anyone used an Mac hosting / Mac VM solution?

Hi,

There are dedicated Mac hosting and Mac VM services advertised.  Can anyone reommend from experience one of these services which performs well, has high level of security, low cost, and suits a test environment?

You can try Virtualbox, it is works well. A relatively new kid on the block is Veertu, both which we have experimented with running both Linux and Microsoft editions. Veertu offers a relatively new approach.

Paid solutions include VMWare and Parallels, both are excellent.

I'm aware of the software I can run on a Mac to provide hosting / VM but the question was related to online offerings.  e.g. Macstadium, Macincloud  etc.

Macminicolo has recently merged with MacStadium. They have enjoyed a very good reputation in the past in the professional environment. I would recommend that you get into contact with Brian Stucki that ran that setup and is now also with MacStadium.
