How do uninstall old Adobe flash player updates

It seems a lot lately that their are Adobe flash player updates and I've never thought to delete old versions on my iMac before and I'm not sure how to do this.

I'm not sure I'm in the right place to ask this but any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)

If you are updating the Flash Player to a new version (and it's advisable to keep it up to date) you don't need to uninstall the existing player first. You should only get the player from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ - do not install it from any pop-up warnings (Adobe do these but there are also fake ones).

If you want to get rid of it altogether, uninstall instructions are here:

Its because it was explained to me in the comment that some pop ups are fake, so thats why I was concerned. I was on the occasion getting pop ups to update twice a week which I thought was odd, but then I don't know much about these things. But should I just leave the adobe updates alone then and not bother uninstalling?

Adobe doesn't send pop-ups. Updates are obtained through the preference panel installed, Flash, or when you turn on automatic updates. The pop-ups probably are fake.

Fixes for Adware and Pop-ups

  1. Malwarebytes
  2. DetectX 2.11
  3. Remove adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac
  4. Stop pop-up ads and adware in Safari - Apple Support

[Please ignore remarks such as “Don't use any kind of "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" product on a Mac.“ Such remonstrations are an exaggeration. They may be needed in some situations, but need not be installed or used for all circumstances. Furthermore, adware removal programs make the job of removal much easier. They require no permanent installation to remove adware or other types of malware. They do no damage, and they don’t make you more vulnerable to attack.]

Depending on how you've set the preferences, Adobe may bring up pop-ups which warn you to update; however some websites may bring up pop-ups which are actually fake. To be on the safe side it's best to download the installer from the link I gave, then you know you're safe. You've probably been using Adobe's pop-ups anyway, which are also safe, so I shouldn't worry about it.

Though not pop-ups in the sense of something brought up by a web-page, the Flash Player prefs have an option for notification:

User uploaded file

The notification comes in the form of a small black pane which appears on its own. This is OK to use, but my choice is always to use the link I posted earlier, then there is no doubt whatever about what you are getting.
