Ipod reads No Music

Hi! ITunes froze while syncing/trying to add songs to my iPod Classic. And then the Finder froze while I tried to eject it that way. I wound up having to just disconnect it.

Now my iPod reads No Music! Argh. I have accidentally disconnected the iPod without ejecting before and it was fine then so I'm assuming this was more due to iTunes and Finder freezing up or the combo of the freezing with disconnecting. (Also, maybe relevant: my MacBook Pro is pretty old and kinda slow. I really need a new computer).

I checked the iPod in Disk Utility and the files are still there. It says 41GB are used. I ran disk repair but still "No Music" when I reboot. And the iTunes on my work computer (new iMac) gives the same 'cannot read/please restore' message my home laptop does.

Is there any way to get it to recognize the files again or do I have to factory-restore (which wipes it, right?) and reload everything?? I'm hoping to avoid it as I had like 4,000 songs on there and not everything is on my laptop. Help?

Thanks for your help!

In Diagnostics Mode I got:

Retracts 95

Reallocs 5

Pending Sectors 0

PoweronHours 103

Start/Stops 49

Temp current 25c

Temp Min 15c

Temp Max 51c

In Disk Mode, plugged into the computer, I can't access any Fxx folders. It just gives me Calendar, Contacts, Notes. I'm on a Mac, I'm reluctant to download the iFunbox since I'm not sure what it is (and also I'm on a work computer).
