Q: Asus RT-N66U

Hello,

I am considering the purchase of an Asus RT-N66U router. It receives good reviews and there are posts about Time Machine support, but the manual for the Asus RT N66U only mentions support through Mountain Lion. I want to use this router with both my 2014 Macbook Pro and my newly purchased Aorus X7 (Windows laptop) and so I want to see if anyone has had any problems with this router while using it with El Capitan (or Yosemite, for that matter).

Thank you!

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), null

A router is a router is a router. None of them are built for any specific OS or computer. Where people have trouble with some routers, regarding TM, is when they connect their backup drive to the dedicated USB connection on the router. Simple solution — don't do that. Connect the external drive to the Mac and you'll have no problems using it with TM at all.
