iMac Screen Damaged

Hello,

I went on a 20 days vacation. I usually leave my old iMac open in sleep screen mode so I can login in case I need anything.

Unfortunately the battery of the bluetooth keyboard went off the day I left. I know because my mother told me over phone. What I didn't knew is that the iMac will not kick into sleep screen mode while trying to connect to the bluetooth. So the iMac remained for ~ 20 days with the "keyboard not found" screen, damaging the screen.

This is a 2008 iMac, 24" screen. Now I see pink lines at the edge of where it used to be the text screen. Here is a picture:

Is there anything I can do clear those?

Have you tried restarting your iMac?

There's something else going on. Just because the batteries in the keyboard needed replacing shouldn't cause an issue with the display.

It's likely that a 2008 iMac might have display issues due to age. Just a coincidence.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think the screen had age problems, because the lines are exactly where the text window was. What I wanted to know is if there's a way to change this layer. Unfortunately I live in North Greece and I need a 2h drive to the closest apple support centre, but I'll contact them, see if they can come up with a solution.

looks like a physical discolouring of the lcd or glass my iPhone got the same thing once when I spilled wine on it and got most of the discolouring off by putting it in rice but a bit remain, if the discolouring is on the glass or the lcd is difficult to say and if one can take it apart and clean it off likewise difficult to say, could be difficult to put it back together too I suppose
