Aug 19, 2016 11:06 AM in response to zyneby poikkeus1,It's a router issue.
The most common solutions will be to (1) reset the router and (2) fix the configuration of the router.

Aug 19, 2016 11:41 AM in response to zyneby mattwithcats,Probably an IP address conflict.
Change the IP address of the router from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.5.1...
THe DHCP range should automatically change to 192.168.5.XXX...
Second, make sure the 2.4 and 5 GHz channels have different SSID names.

Aug 19, 2016 12:27 PM in response to poikkeus1by zyne,NO it's not I've tried 2 differing connections on 2 totally differing models of routers 1 ADSL router 1 cable router, the IMac takes its time to get the ip from either.
if I watch network monitor I can see the IMac get a 169 address first then it gets the proper IP 169 as you know is no address
i just wondered if the latest patch from Apple did something as I see a lot of network patches in it...

Aug 20, 2016 12:25 AM in response to zyneby zyne,Just to give you heads up guys after much testing and messing I decided to re-install OS X, reasons were this was definitely something around the OS that wasn't right, I have a PC next to this on the desk and that was getting IPs fine.
once I restalled it's all ok now, however I've yet to install anything like patches I will monitor the patch manifest from Apple and see if any make differences
thanks for help
