Ethernet Port on Apple TV Not Working

Model: A1625 (64 GB) | tvOS 9.2.2 (13Y825)

The house has hardwired Cat5 jacks and connects directly to the ISP Router. I don't have any other fancy network equipment.

I was away on vacation and had unplugged the surge protector to the TV and Apple TV. I returned home and plugged everything in and powered the TV and Apple TV on and the Apple TV won't connect to the network via Ethernet. At the time the tvOS was 9.2.1. I receive the following message:

"Error

Your device may not be connected to the Internet. Please make sure your connection is working and try again. Code:-1009"

I tried unplugging, rebooting, new cables, etc. nothing worked. The Apple TV will connect via Wi-Fi so I performed the Software Update to bring the tvOS up to date with version 9.2.2 told Apple TV to forget the Wireless Network and restarted everything and it still won't connect. Appreciate any ideas?

I had this problem at my house fall 2016. Three units started to fail at the same time. I have an extensive network with managed switches and monitoring equipment, so I know the network is rock solid. My devices were in different parts of the house, and all of those ports work with non-Apple TV devices. None of my devices work on any of my ports with any patch cable. I switched them all over to WiFi but I've designed my installation for ethernet to properly handle the volume of data transferring.

It must have been a software update. I'm tempted to hit the reset button and go back to the software they were shipped with to see if that works.

My issue is similar, hopefully someone on here can help. Our security cameras only connect to the internet through an Ethernet cable..... since installing the Apple Airport Extreme they won't connect using the Ethernet ports. We've tried the ones on the back of the router, the ones in the wall (Cat5 throughout the house), the ports on the switch, different cables, etc. No connection. The laptops works when directly tested on those ports, but not our security camera receivers....

Not sure what else to try before returning the Apple routers (AirPort and Express) We set up as a roaming network with a Motorola 6183 Modem. (Spectrum ISP, DirecTv)

I'm curious if this helped. I recently ran into the same problem and spent quite a while troubleshooting, resetting via USB-C then ultimately having the Genius Bar look at it only to say "yep, your ethernet port is bad" and then offered me a device swap for $120 or $130 because the 12 month warranty was up...it is about 17 months old. So for now I am removing it from my basement media room and will have it upstairs next to the wifi router so that it's usable. That short of a lifespan is unacceptable but obviously I'm not alone. Hopefully your resolution to the situation is better than mine.
